Columbus Springs - Dublin is seeking a Financial Counselor to manage patient accounts, advise on payment options, and support the admissions process. You will handle billing inquiries, set up payment plans, and ensure accurate documentation while maintaining confidentiality.

The role emphasizes strong customer service, careful cash handling, and familiarity with insurance verification and self-pay policies within a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; advanced education preferred.
• Proficient in use of software programs.
• Excellent customer service and telephone skills a must.
• Minimum of one year of business or related experience including bookkeeping and collection of monies.
• Hospital or medical business office experience preferred.
• Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsels patients to establish payment method.
• Contacts patients prior to admission to obtain missing information.
• Estimates and informs patient of portion of bill to be paid.
• Establishes a payment plan for those unable to pay at discharge.
• Ensures completeness of pre-admission information and signatures.
• Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements for Medicare/Medicaid/TRICARE.
• Collects self-pay monies and balances cash drawer.
• Determines allowed self-pay amounts by insurance verification.
