Three Crosses Regional Hospital is seeking a Financial Counselor to join our team focused on clinical excellence and patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate will assist patients and families in obtaining funding, determine eligibility, and arrange flexible payment plans. Strong communication and hospital billing knowledge are essential to support access to care while maintaining compliance and accuracy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of hospital experience.
• Working knowledge of patient accounting functions including pre-admissions and admission registration preferred.
• Ability to interpret billing manuals, insurance and third-party coverage.
• Understanding of government/state payers and eligibility factors.
• Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
• Proficiency with office machines and computers.
• Excellent interpersonal, telephone, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follows policy and procedures in regard to financial screening, arrangements and third-party demands.
• Supports patients and families to access funding from private and governmental sources.
• Maintains daily contact with Utilization Management, Business Office, Patient Registration, Medical Records, and other departments and third-party agencies for financial concerns.
• Determines patient ability to pay and secures repayment arrangements per policy.
• Allocates proper financial classification and updates system with policy and insurance IDs.
• Provides estimates for procedures to patients, physicians, and payers.
• Notifies supervisor when extended payment arrangements may be needed for approval.
• Assists in obtaining authorizations and contacting providers as needed.
• Determines coinsurance, deductible status, and patient responsibility during verification.
• Contacts patients prior to service to discuss financial responsibilities and installment plans.
