Job summary

UF Health Gainesville seeks an Accounts/Patient Financial Services Specialist to support professional services billing. You will enter charges, apply CPT/diagnosis rules, verify insurance, obtain authorizations, and counsel patients on their financial options.

You will resolve front-end edits and rejections, review patient accounts, and collaborate with internal and external customers, with occasional float to other UFHP practices as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Two years of business/financial/physician practice experience required, preferably related to patient accounts and collections.
• Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding preferred.
• A four-year degree may substitute for two years of financial/physician office experience.
• EPIC system knowledge preferred.
• Associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for the one year required experience.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and function in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Enter charges and apply coding/billing rules for professional services.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations for services.
• Review patient accounts and counsel patients regarding financial matters.
• Resolve front-end edits, rejections, and information requests to achieve practice goals.
• Float to other UFHP practices or flex time as needed for staffing.
