Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year CPT and ICD-10 coding required.
• 3 years working with health insurance companies, verifying benefits required.
• 2 years Physician billing required.
• 3 years Customer service required.

Responsibilities

• Determine and assign patient’s payment responsibility for elective procedures with self-pay or primary commercial insurance but no secondary coverage.
• Collect funds prior to services being rendered.
• Prepare daily deposit and balance Pre-Admit logs monthly.
• Assist walk-in patients with billing issues and requests.
• Collect patient payment and notify scheduling department of financial clearance.
• Contact insurance to determine patient responsibility and create estimates using the EPIC Patient Estimator.
• Contact patient within 7 days of scheduled procedure date to advise on responsibility and financing options.
• Research patient information for pricing using Op Time or requests for outside physician services.
• Resolve procedure code issues with schedulers before pricing.
• Price procedures and any anesthesia, pathology and ancillary costs for elective surgeries.
