Qualifications

• Two years of business, financial, or physician practice experience required, preferably in patient accounts, billing, or collections.
• Knowledge of CPT and diagnosis coding preferred.
• Experience with the EPIC system preferred.
• A four-year degree may substitute for two years of required financial or physician office experience.
• An associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Enter charges and apply coding/billing rules to claims.
• Maximize collections and verify insurance information.
• Obtain authorizations for services as needed.
• Review patient account detail for accuracy and completeness.
• Provide financial counseling to patients and discuss payment options.
• Resolve front-end edits and rejections and respond to information requests.
• Collaborate with practice staff to support billing and collection goals.
