Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative in Georgia to greet patients, register walk-ins, and verify insurance details. You will calculate and collect patient financial responsibility while following financial clearance policies and referring complex cases to a Financial Counselor when needed.

The role requires understanding of Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA rules, and payer pre-certification requirements, with emphasis on accuracy and courteous service in a busy clinic setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Experience in patient access, scheduling, registration and financial clearance preferred.
• Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, EMTALA rules and insurance pre-certification requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients arriving for appointments.
• Monitor patient flow for efficient, courteous care.
• Ensure complete and accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
• Complete walk-in registrations and update information as needed.
• Collect patient financial liability and balances.
• Follow financial clearance policies and refer to Financial Counselor when needed.
• Perform visit closure and schedule follow-ups.
• Maintain knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization needs.
• Communicate process improvements to management.
• Meet productivity and accuracy targets.
