Job summary

Advocate Health, based in Charlotte, NC, seeks a dedicated Unit Secretary for the Ballantyne Family Medicine site. This full-time role requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a pay range of $20.80–$31.20 per hour.

Responsibilities include patient identification, armband placement, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining strict HIPAA and CMS compliance throughout registration and information flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Healthcare setting or unit secretary experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and document patient identification and place armbands on arriving patients.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, coworkers, management and physicians.
• Maintain HIPAA CMS and Medicare/Medicaid compliance in registration processes and information flow.
• Provide continuity in departmental operations.
• Refer patients to Patient Financial Resource Services when needed.
• Refer patients to Drug List Techs for medication updates prior to surgery.
• Provide age-appropriate care and support to patients and families.
• Support department staff in delivering a caring, compassionate environment.
