Job summary

VSP Vision is seeking a part-time Optical Assistant to support patients and help the Doctor and Office Manager maintain a smooth patient flow. You will greet customers, explain pricing, verify insurance, and assist with dispensing eyewear in a fast-paced optical office.

Responsibilities include handling calls, checking in and pretesting patients, and ensuring accurate documentation. The role emphasizes exceptional service and accuracy from the first interaction.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in a related field.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Clear verbal communication.
• Strong written communication.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients and support Doctor and Office Manager to ensure smooth patient flow.
• Greet customers and explain exam pricing transparently.
• Check-in and pretest patients efficiently and accurately.
• Verify insurance prior to Doctor encounter.
• Answer phones promptly and professionally.
• Assist in dispensing eyewear and related tasks.
• Provide exceptional patient service and contribute to accuracy (Right the First Time).
• Record notes from interactions and inform Office Manager of issues.
• Perform tasks assigned by Office Manager.
