Job summary

BHMG Lifespan Physician Group, Inc., d/b/a Brown Health Medical Group is seeking a Patient Service Specialist to join the administration team in Massachusetts. The role involves front-end duties, patient communication, and entering information into EPIC while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism across in-person, phone, and email interactions.

Qualifications

• One to three years in a medical assistant role is preferred.
• Strong customer service excellence expected.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Experience with EMR is strongly preferred (Athena a plus).
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers calls and routes telephone calls; takes messages and follows through.
• Provides routine information and medical information only from a provider.
• Delivers high level of customer service to all patients.
• Creates patient cases and documents calls and messages in EPIC.
• Schedules patient appointments and tests as requested.
• Registers patients in EMR and verifies demographics and insurance information.
• Performs insurance eligibility checks.
• Collects insurance co-pays and prior balances from patients.
• Follows scheduling notes and directs schedules across BHMG practices.
• Performs pre-visit planning and runs insurance eligibility.
• Obtains prior authorizations and/or referrals as needed.
• Performs outreach to patient groups for care and quality measures.
• Schedules specialty appointments/testing when required.
• Manages EMR buckets as directed.
• Inform manager of supply needs and assist with ordering.
• Follow up with providers on missing slips and create claims in EPIC.
• Work on assigned revenue cycle buckets.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to SMG policies and patient confidentiality.
