Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a friendly, detail‑oriented clinic clerk to support front desk operations in a busy medical office. You will check in patients, handle phone calls, and input demographic and insurance data with accuracy.

You may also check out patients and perform follow-up communications as needed. The role requires at least one year of customer service experience, basic knowledge of medical terminology, and strong data entry and math skills.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of customer service experience required.
• Must attend all required coursework assigned by management.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and advanced PC applications.
• Able to perform math and bookkeeping tasks.
• Exceptional telephone and customer service skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Check in scheduled and add-on patients.
• Answer telephone and route calls; enter demographic, insurance and charge data.
• Check out patients and perform follow-up as necessary.
• Provide assistance in the waiting room as needed.
• Support clinic revenue processes and related clerical duties.
