Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Patient Care Connect Coordinator to register patients, schedule appointments, verify eligibility, and support authorizations. You will coordinate care among patients, clinicians and staff, delivering a smooth patient experience across Keck Medicine locations.

The role requires strong communication and EMR familiarity, plus a minimum of a high school diploma and 3 years in acute/ambulatory care. Pay ranges from $22.00 to $35.55 per hour.

Qualifications

• Req High School or equivalent.
• Req 3 years related experience in acute care or ambulatory care medical setting.
• Req Experience with navigating insurance benefits, including verifying insurance coverage, explaining out-of-pocket costs, and coordinating good faith estimates.
• Req Familiarity with Word processing, Microsoft Outlook.
• Req Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
• Req In depth knowledge of all medical insurance types.
• Req Analytical and problem-solving skills including ability to analyze and interpret patient data from multiple systems.
• Req EMR scheduling knowledge.
• Req Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient demographics, insurance information, and referral documentation to accurately register new and returning patients.
• Acts as a patient liaison and primary point of contact for patients and caregivers and takes accountability for their patient experience.
• Enter information into computer systems utilizing proper Care Connect functions with accuracy.
• Confers with patients and third-party payers to ensure the eligibility and authorization of services.
• Identifies alternative financial sources for services and facilitates processing of application/approval.
• Fields patient account inquiries and maintains accurate EMR records.
• Schedules patient appointments in a timely manner, including labs, testing and consultations as needed.
• Acts as a liaison guiding patients through the Keck process and explains procedures.
• Coordinate care between patients and healthcare providers and ensure smooth information flow.
