Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System, a member of Trinity Health, is seeking a Diet Clerk to support patients, the clinical dietitian, and meal services. The role emphasizes teamwork and adherence to hospital policies and guidelines.

You will assist with menu selections, respond to patient needs, maintain confidentiality, relay clinical information to the dietitian, and verify tray accuracy against diet orders. Requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent; college training in Dietetics or related field preferred.
• Must know how to read, write and speak English.
• Experience: Previous health care experience or knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred.
• Knowledgeable in Basic Computer Skills.

Responsibilities

• Visits all patients as assigned assisting the patient or family member with menu selections.
• Responds to patient needs, requests in a timely manner.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Communicates pertinent clinical information to the Clinical Dietitian and appropriate members of the patient care team.
• Establishes and maintains strong positive communication with patients and families.
• Checks patient tray tickets against electronic medical record to ensure that tray ticket is accurate and consistent with diet order and patient preferences.
