Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System is seeking a part-time Diet Clerk to support patients, families, and the care team. You will assist with menu selections, relay information to the Clinical Dietitian, and help ensure meals meet diet orders. Strong communication and basic computer skills are required.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, teamwork, and timely response to patient needs while rotating shifts across the schedule.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent; college training in Dietetics or related field preferred; reading, writing and speaking English required.
• Experience: Healthcare experience or knowledge of dietetics/medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Visits all patients as assigned, assisting the patient or family with menu selections.
• Responds to patient needs and requests in a timely manner.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Communicates pertinent clinical information to the Clinical Dietitian and other members of the patient care team.
• Establishes and maintains strong, positive communication with patients and families.
• Checks patient tray tickets against electronic medical records to ensure accuracy with diet orders and patient preferences.
