Job summary

Akumin Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Patient Coordinator to deliver exceptional patient experiences. Responsibilities include greeting patients, handling check-in, registering in systems, answering calls, and coordinating appointments.

The role supports transportation and pre/post-procedure instructions, with emphasis on accurate records and HIPAA compliance. Local travel may be required across sites; CPR certification is required before hire for mobile settings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CPR Certification required prior to hire (Mobile Radiology/On-site CPR as applicable).
• Valid state driver's license may be required.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Perform patient registration in various systems.
• Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures and provide instructions.
• Transport patients to/from exam rooms and assist in transfers.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and ensure supplies are stocked.
• Ensure accuracy of patient records and schedule appointments in systems.
• Complete documentation of patient visits in electronic systems and written documents.
• Assist clinical staff with documentation and image delivery as needed.
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations and perform other duties as assigned.
