Job summary

UF Health in Florida seeks a Switchboard Operator to provide outstanding service by routing incoming and outgoing calls for patients, families, visitors, and staff. You will initiate appropriate responders for emergencies and coordinate communications using telephones, pagers, or computers.

Responsibilities include answering calls quickly and professionally, locating physicians or on-call staff, maintaining up-to-date on-call information, managing daily call schedules, and assisting with beeper

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/Equivalent required.
• 0-1 year experience in Telecommunications, Switchboard, or Medical Customer Service.
• Preferences: Answering service/Medical office experience.
• Must be able to work days/evenings, multi-task, and maintain excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Answer and process all calls quickly and professionally.
• Listen to callers, clarify requests, then dial numbers accurately.
• Locate Physicians or On Call Staff as requested and log updates.
• Maintain current on-call information; document and share changes with coworkers.
• Manage daily call schedules for On Call Departments/Physicians and timelines.
• Assist with basic Beeper services and document needs after hours.
• Arrange repair or replacement of telephone equipment in coordination with management.
