Northwest Florida Community Hospital is seeking a Patient Information / Switchboard Operator to manage the hospital's switchboard, assist patients, visitors, and staff with information and directions, and handle patient payments with confidentiality in a busy healthcare environment.

The role requires strong communication, the ability to multitask under pressure, and adherence to HIPAA and hospital protocols. This PRN position supports front desk functions and emergency communications as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous switchboard, receptionist, healthcare, or cash handling experience preferred.
• Experience with multi-line phone systems highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate the hospital switchboard system to answer, screen, and route calls promptly and professionally.
• Provide accurate information to patients, visitors, and staff regarding hospital services and departments.
• Announce emergency codes and overhead pages per protocol.
• Monitor alarms and priority communications.
• Greet and assist patients and visitors with directions and assistance.
• Collect patient payments and issue receipts, documenting transactions.
