ALASKA HEART INSTITUTE in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Call Center Specialist to handle incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department. The role is nonexempt and located in Clinic Support Services.

The successful candidate will answer calls professionally, determine caller needs, connect them to the correct extension, and respond to emergencies per established procedures. After-hours messages are retrieved and delivered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with knowledge of medical terminology.
• Preferred: One year of switchboard experience in a health-care setting.
• Minimum: Customer service experience and knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

• Answer all calls in a friendly professional manner.
• Determine the caller’s need and connect the call to the correct person or extension.
• Respond to emergency calls from doctors, hospitals, and patients in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
• Retrieve and deliver messages received by the after‑hours voice mail system.
