Job summary

Tenet Physician Resources is seeking an experienced surgical scheduling professional to manage preoperative processes and coordinate patient care. The role focuses on verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, and coordinating preoperative testing with surgeons and hospital teams.

The ideal candidate has CMA certification (or equivalent) and at least 5 years in a physician office setting, with travel to support other offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma/GED and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• CMA preferred; CPR required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a physician office with surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred.
• Occasional local travel to support other offices.

Responsibilities

• Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.
• Verify insurance information in the electronic system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual plans prior to surgery.
• Obtain medical clearances and coordinate preoperative testing in concert with surgeons and hospital protocols.
• Work with hospital personnel to obtain necessary information for surgery scheduling.
• Confirm and reschedule return appointments, as necessary.
• Notify manager with patient account and insurance issues.
• Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed; other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma/GED

Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) preferred
