Job summary

Tenet Physician Resources in South Texas is seeking a qualified professional to manage the end-to-end surgery process, including verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, scheduling preoperative labs, and coordinating post-operative care with surgeons and hospital staff.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma plus an accredited Medical Assistant program, CMA and CPR credentials preferred, and at least five years in a physician office with surgery scheduling experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED plus accredited Medical Assistant Program.
• CMA preferred; CPR required.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a physician office with surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• Occasional local travel to support other offices.

Responsibilities

• Triage surgical candidates as required by physicians.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.
• Verify insurance information in the electronic system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Coordinate preoperative testing with surgeons and hospital protocols.
• Work with hospital staff to obtain information for surgery scheduling.
• Confirm and reschedule return appointments as needed.
• Notify supervisor of patient account and insurance issues.
• Assist administrative or clinical staff as needed.
