Job summary

Target Optical in Lecanto, FL is seeking a part-time Optometric Technician to support our patient care team. You will deliver friendly, attentive service, assist the Optometrist, and help with pre-exam testing and lens/products guidance.

We value strong guest service, clear communication, basic math, and reliability. Previous retail or optical exposure is a plus; join a team dedicated to a WOW experience for our guests and communities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one-year strong guest service skills (internal/external).
• High School Graduate /GED or equivalent experience.
• Strong communicator and listener to guests and associates.
• Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Strong interpersonal skills (friendly, caring, patient).
• Sales skills.
• Knowledge of store merchandise.
• Familiarity with cash register, computers and calculators.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests without delay when they enter the store; shows urgency in providing service.
• Determines the reason for the guest's visit; explains how to shop and services.
• Reviews prescriptions and patient information; identifies special needs and consults with Optician/Doctor when needed.
• Shows patience and courtesy to indecisive or difficult guests and patients.
• Performs work accurately and thoroughly despite time pressure and guest volume.
• Demonstrates knowledge of appointment book/scheduling and computer operation.
• Handles and files patient records in an organized and efficient manner.
• Places contact lens orders, processes shipments and submits invoices for payment.
• Operates the POS system; collects proper payment.
• Maintains appearances and keeps displays clean, attractive and organized.
• Informs management of potential safety opportunities.
• Demonstrates safe work practices.
• Performs pre-examination testing with accuracy and explains measurements to patients.
• Provides coaching on contact lens care and handling.
• Maintains and disinfects contact lens inventory; supports Optometrist as needed.
