Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist with basic patient care under RN supervision. The role focuses on monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, and ensuring a clean, safe patient environment across three 12-hour shifts.

Qualified candidates include high school graduates or equivalents, nursing students with clinical rotation, and certified nursing assistants or EMTs. CPR/BLS certification is required; phlebotomy experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed required.
• CPR - Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings or changes to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Prioritizes tasks and handles unit workflow in coordination with the RN/charge nurse.
