Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff on 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, with every other weekend and rotating holidays. You'll monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, and help keep patient areas clean while coordinating with the RN and other teams.

Mandatory CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinicals and BLS are required; phlebotomy experience is a plus. The role emphasizes safety, compassion, and efficient unit operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT certification or nursing student with one semester of clinical.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy experience.
• Preferred: CNA program graduate or Phlebotomy course graduate.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and glucose measurements.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living: bathing, grooming and eating.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Manages unit workflow with charge RN as needed.
• Answers电话, intercom and call lights politely and communicates with staff/family/patients.
• Participates in census, admissions and discharges as needed.
