Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician on the 3C Med/Surg Intermediate unit in the CDH area. You will perform basic nursing tasks under an RN, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and help maintain clean, organized patient rooms on a fast-paced unit.

This role requires CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinicals, a High School diploma, and BLS. Phlebotomy experience is a plus, and training is offered within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Phlebotomy experience (preferred).
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose, and intake/output.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and multitasking under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work based on patient and unit needs.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers calls and communicates information to staff/family/patient.
• Manages unit workflow with charge RN/manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates admission/discharge/census lists as needed.
