Job summary

MedStar Health in Baltimore seeks a Patient Care Technician to join the patient-centered care team. You will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assist with ADLs, and support medical staff during procedures.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, IV care, EKGs, and accurate health-record documentation. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, completion of a PCT program, CNA certification, and CPR within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required and completion of an approved Patient Care Technician training program required.
• Less than 1 year experience as CNA or patient care tech required; student nurse in later year preferred.
• CNA certification required; CPR certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under RN supervision and assists with ADLs.
• Collects specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool) and performs venipuncture/phlebotomy.
• Obtains EKGs and applies external telemetry monitoring; manages IV catheters and dressings.
• Records vital signs, intake/output, and other data in health record.
• Assists with patient transport, discharge, and coordination with care team.
• Maintains patient comfort, privacy, and safety; observes for changes in condition.
