Job summary

MedStar Health in Washington, DC seeks a dedicated nursing assistant/EMT-ready role to join the patient-centered care team. You will provide direct patient care under supervision, assist with ADLs, collect specimens, perform phlebotomy and EKGs, and document in the health record.

The role supports nurses and providers across units and adapts to department needs. You will contribute to patient safety and comfort, monitor vital signs, assist with transfers, and participate in rounds and care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or
• Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program an experienced MWHC nursing assistant or the equivalent required or
• Completion of a national Registered Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic program/course with at least six months or more experience as an EMT CCT or EMTP required or
• Nursing Student (RN Program) with completion of at least one year of clinical rotation or a graduate of an approved nursing program (LPN or RN)

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to safety standards and SPIRIT Values.
• Assists patients with ADLs and personal hygiene including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
• Collets specimens, performs venipuncture, EKGs, and IV catheter care.
• Records vital signs and I&O in patient health records.
• Maintains patient comfort, privacy, and dignity, including 1:1 observation when required.
• Transports patients for discharges or appointments and assists with environmental services and supply handling.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in quality improvement teams.
