Job summary

Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in New Jersey is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist with activities of daily living under the direction of a Registered Nurse or LPN. The role emphasizes compassionate patient support, accurate documentation, and teamwork with the healthcare team.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, completion of a PCT/CNA program (or equivalent) and BLS. Phlebotomy/EKG training is required in ED roles.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, mobility and transportation.
• Measure vital signs, perform point of care testing, bladder scanning, and Foley catheter care; phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Document changes in patient status and communicate with RN/LPN.
• Reinforce patient and family education on care needs and safety.
• Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and goals; support performance improvement activities.
• Assist in orientation of new hires.
