Job summary

Virtua Health is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician to assist with activities of daily living under the supervision of RN/LPN. The role emphasizes communication with patients and families, and support of the healthcare team in a high‑quality care environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and completion of a PCT course or equivalent experience. Phlebotomy training may be required for ED positions; hourly pay is competitive.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures and standards.
• Strong communication skills are required.
• Phlebotomy training/education is provided if needed for certain positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists with activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, mobility and transport.
• Observes safety precautions, including isolation and safe patient practices.
• Performs duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point of care testing and catheter care.
• May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
• Reports changes in patient status to the nursing team.
• Reinforces patient and family education on care needs and safety.
• Supports patient satisfaction initiatives and participates in performance improvement activities.
• Assists in orientation of new hires.
