Job summary

Ascension seeks a skilled RN for a Neuro Stepdown unit, based at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. You will translate complex medical plans into compassionate communication for patients and families, while collaborating closely with an interdisciplinary team in a high-acuity setting.

The role supports rapid response, patient transfers from ER and Trauma Neuro ICU, and a 46-bed unit with a 1:3–4 nurse-to-patient ratio. Full-time daytime schedule with Ascension benefits offered.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
• Licensed/registered as applicable per state requirements may be required.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of pertinent experience required.

Responsibilities

• Act as the Clinical Liaison by translating complex medical plans into clear, compassionate language.
• Collaborate with rapid response and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely patient care.
• Support a high-acuity Neuro stepdown unit with a 46-bed capacity and patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:3–4.
• Engage in cross-team communication to coordinate patient transfers from ER, Trauma Neuro ICU and MICU.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
