Job summary

Ascension is seeking staff for the Inpatient Acuity Adaptable Unit in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time, day shift role involves 3x12 schedules with rotating weekends on the Ascension St. Vincent Lucas Family Brain and Spine unit.

You will safely position patients, assist with ADLs, monitor changes, document care, and maintain a clean healing environment to support high-quality patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month (30 days) of hire, accepted from AHA or Red Cross.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience required.
• Professional licensure/certification can substitute education/experience where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Safely position and transfer patients to prevent secondary injury.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) ensuring safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor and report changes to nursing team for rapid neurological intervention.
• Document daily care and vital observations for the patient record.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free environment and ready room equipment.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Safeguard patient mobility by safely positioning and transferring individuals recovering from procedures to prevent secondary injury.
• Deliver high-quality assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensuring patient safety, comfort, and clinical hygiene standards are met.
• Monitor and report physical, mental, or emotional changes to the nursing team immediately to support rapid neurological intervention.
• Document daily care and vital observations accurately to maintain a seamless, reliable patient record for the clinical team.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free healing environment and keep specialized room equipment ready for safe patient use.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required. *Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
