Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to provide direct patient care under licensed clinicians. The role includes monitoring patients, assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, EKGs and point-of-care tests, and supporting the healthcare team with treatments and procedures.

Qualifications

Must be able to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
Basic computer skills required for documentation and orders.
Basic Medical Terminology knowledge expected.
Ability to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

Provides clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations and changes.
Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
Assists with daily living activities and patient comfort.
Assists in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
Performs vital signs, measures weight/height, and documents data.
Performs EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning, and prepares specimens for lab transport.
Assists with treatments and procedures, preparing patient and equipment.
Observes intake/output and manages feeding tubes as directed.
Supports respectful, culturally appropriate communication with staff and patients.
Replenishes supplies and seeks guidance as needed.
