Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join its clinical team in Massachusetts. You will provide essential patient care under licensed clinicians, including observation, measurements, and support for treatments and procedures.

The role requires strong English communication, basic computer skills, and a high school education or GED, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain patient safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly and concisely.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN about patient observations.
• Maintain constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Maintain a safe patient environment and assist in de-escalation when needed.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility.
• Help move, lift, position, and transport patients using safe techniques.
• Perform vital signs, height/weight measurements, and basic monitoring tasks.
• Assist with EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning, and specimen transport to lab.
• Support RN/LICP with treatments and procedures and prep equipment.
