Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed clinician. You will support daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and assist with treatments and procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort across shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30-days as a condition of employment.
• Basic computer skills and Medical Terminology knowledge.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Provides constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment and uses de-escalation techniques as directed.
• Assists patients with daily living activities such as hygiene, ambulating, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
• Performs patient safety checks and uses fall-prevention devices as directed.
• Takes and records vital signs and measures patient weights/heights.
• Performs ECGs, POC tests and bladder scanning as per standards.
• Assists with treatments/procedures by preparing equipment and supporting the patient.
• Observes intake/outtake and manages ostomy and feeding supports as directed.
