Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Leominster, MA seeks a Patient Care Technician II to support nursing teams in delivering compassionate patient care. Under licensed supervision, you will assist with daily living activities, vital signs, specimen collection, and unit safety, while maintaining documentation and equipment readiness.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, BLS certification, and prior PCT experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated competency attainment in the Patient Care Technician I level, work a minimum of 800 hours and at least 6 months as a PCT I.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner.
• Medical Terminology.
• Computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to gather information from individuals, build relationships that support collaborative work within the department and across the organization and provide exceptional service to patients.
• Must have proven problem-solving abilities for routine situations.
• Must be able to remain calm when under stress or in emergency situations.
• Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Maintains patient safety and supports care plans as directed by licensed staff.
• Assists with daily living activities and patient movement using proper safety techniques.
• Performs unit procedures and supports treatment procedures per unit standards.
• Replenishes supplies and supports the care team as needed.
• Keeps current with unit changes and participates in precepting new staff.
