Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician II to join the medical-surgical team. You will support nurses with direct patient care, monitor vital signs, perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care tests, and help ensure a safe, comfortable patient environment.

Under licensed clinician supervision, you will engage with patients and families, document care activities, and respond to changes in patient condition per unit protocols within a fast-paced hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to RN regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assists in maintaining a safe environment and uses interventions to de-escalate patients.
• Assists patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Supports in positioning and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Performs vital signs, records measurements, and assists with lab specimen collection.
