Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to support nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care. The role involves vital sign monitoring, basic assessments, and assistance with daily living activities on a busy unit.

Qualifications

Minimum of a high school education or GED.
Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with hospital workflows.

Responsibilities

Provide patient care under the direction of licensed clinicians.
Communicate observations to RNs clearly and promptly.
Maintain patient safety and assist with daily living activities.
Assist with lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using safe techniques.
Take and record vital signs and basic measurements like height/weight.
Perform EKGs, POC tests, and specimen handling per standards.
Support treatments and procedures with proper equipment and sterile technique.
