Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician I for the night shift (11 PM–7 AM) in the 2N IP Adult Acute Care unit. Under licensed clinicians, you will assist with daily living activities, monitor high-risk patients, perform vital signs, EKGs, POC tests, bladder scanning, and support treatments.

You'll work to maintain safety, communicate changes to RNs, and help maintain a respectful, patient‑centered environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Must remain calm under stress or in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Communicate observations to the RN in a timely, clear manner.
• Provide constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned.
• Assist with daily living activities and patient transport.
• Take and record vital signs and measurements.
• Perform EKGs, POC tests, and collect specimens for transport to the lab.
• Assist with treatments under supervision of a clinician.
• Maintain safety and use de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Read and respond to hospital communications and attend required meetings.
