Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Connecticut is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to join our care team. Under licensed clinicians, you will assist with patient care, monitor and report changes, and support nursing staff.

You will help with activities of daily living, perform vital signs, basic lab prep, and ensure patient safety while maintaining compassionate, culturally sensitive communication. Must have high school diploma and BLS.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or GED is required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to RN regarding patient observations.
• Maintain patient safety and assist with daily living activities.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning and transporting patients safely.
• Take and record vital signs and basic measurements as directed.
• Assist with EKGs, POC tests, and specimen preparation per standards.
• Demonstrate respectful, culturally appropriate communication with patients and staff.
