Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Care Technician I to work the 11pm-7:30am night shift. Under licensed clinicians, you will support nurses and care teams by providing direct patient care and monitoring.

You will perform routine tasks such as vital signs, assistance with activities of daily living, safety checks, and basic procedures. A high school diploma and BLS are required, with English communication and computer skills essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school education or GED.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days as a condition of employment.
• English communication, basic computer skills, and medical terminology knowledge required.
• Must be able to remain calm under stress or in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes in patients.
• Provide constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment and de-escalation; participate in restraints when directed.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, ambulation, meals and nourishment.
• Assist in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients using proper safety techniques.
• Perform patient safety checks and follow restraint policies when caring for restrained patients.
