Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a role focused on direct patient care and non-direct patient care unit coordination. The incumbent will assist the RN in caring for acutely ill patients, practice medical asepsis, and maintain patient/family dignity and privacy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
• Limited or no experience; must be able to attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Acute care experience within the last 3 years (preferred).
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program; completed at least one clinical rotation (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide, obtain, perform and document direct patient care and activities (ADLs, skin survey, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, I&O, meals, height/weight, glucose testing).
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding, safety).
• Accurately document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimens and treatments; report changes to nursing staff.
• Participate in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning/retrieval.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
