Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care teammate to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination on an inpatient floor. You will support RNs in caring for stable and acutely ill patients, practice medical asepsis, document in the EMR, and help with admissions, discharges and transfers.

You will work under RN supervision, follow hospital policies, and help maintain a safe, private, and efficient patient environment while communicating clearly with patients and families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Limited or no experience; must attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Acute care experience within last 3 years (preferred).
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program with clinical rotation (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination.
• Assist RN in care of acutely ill patients and maintain patient safety and dignity.
• Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in admissions, discharges and transfers on the inpatient unit.
• Support unit activities such as time management and maintaining a clean environment.
