Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination in a hospital setting.

The role supports RNs in caring for stable and acutely ill patients, maintains documentation in the EMR, and participates in admissions, discharges, and transfers. Training is provided; prior acute care experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Attend 2 weeks of training if experience is limited.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination.
• Assist the RN in the care of acutely ill patients.
• Document patient care appropriately in the electronic medical record.
• Maintain patient/family environment and unit upkeep.
• Respond to emergencies and perform duties related to admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Education

Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program
