Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a nursing assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with unit coordination for patients in stable condition. The role supports the RN in caring for acutely ill patients and participates in maintaining patient safety, privacy, and comfort.

Responsibilities include documenting vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and contributing to unit operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Limited or no experience; must attend 2 weeks of training.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing, bladder scanning and transporting of patients and their medical records.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and maintains a clean and orderly environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment/appliance cleaning, checks and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
