Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a caring Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with inpatient unit coordination. The role requires performing basic nursing procedures for stable patients and supporting RNs in acutely ill patients while upholding medical asepsis and patient privacy.

You will document care in the electronic medical record, communicate clearly with the patient and family, and manage time effectively under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Enrolled in ASN or BSN programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as activities of daily living, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, glucose testing, bladder scanning, transporting of patients and their medical records, and documentation of oxygen and treatments.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift report and hourly rounding to promote safety and maintain a clean environment.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, intake & output, and other treatments; reports changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
• Assists with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning and retrieval.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
