Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care associate to provide direct care to patients, assist the RN in caring for acutely ill patients, and support unit coordination on an inpatient unit in stable condition.

The role emphasizes medical asepsis, privacy, accurate documentation in the EMR, and collaboration with the care team; training is provided and safety and HIPAA guidelines are followed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 weeks of training may be needed for limited experience.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• ASN/BSN student or enrollment with at least one clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide and document direct patient care including activities of daily living and vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, and meal/input monitoring.
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and safety practices.
• Document vital signs, weights, intake & output, restraints, treatments; report changes to nursing staff.
• Assist with unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
