Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and assist the Registered Nurse with coordination of inpatient unit activities. The role includes performing basic nursing procedures and maintaining patient comfort in a stable condition.

You will adhere to hospital policies, maintain patient privacy, document care in the EMR, and participate in safety and quality initiatives under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be able to attend training (2 weeks).
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Preferred: Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Preferred: ASN or BSN program enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care activities (ADLs, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake/output).
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives (bedside shift report, hourly rounding, falls prevention, hand washing, isolation, clean environment).
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimens, and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
