Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Technician to join our nursing support team. The role involves three 12-hour shifts per week from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with every other weekend night and rotating holidays required, supporting RN staff and patient care activities.

Responsibilities include vital signs, ADL assistance, reporting changes to nursing, and maintaining clean patient areas. Qualifications include a high school diploma and CNA/CMA/EMT certification with CPR/BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation or must be certified as a CNA, CMA, or EMT.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) required by American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities under RN supervision.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility and ability to multitask under stress.
• Prioritizes unit work with unit staff.
