Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician to provide essential support under an RN, including vital signs, ADLs, and daily census tasks. The role supports a three 12-hour shift schedule with rotating weekends and holidays.

A CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester completed is required, plus BLS certification. The position emphasizes patient safety, teamwork, and adherence to ethics and compliance, with comprehensive benefits and a structured training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be certified as a CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester completed.
• American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities as delegated by an RN, including vitals and glucose checks.
• Assist patients with ADLs and personal care such as bathing, grooming and eating.
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and multitasking in a high‑demand unit.
• Prioritize tasks and manage workflow as needs change.
• Serve as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answer phones, intercoms, and call lights with professional etiquette.
• Support unit workflow with charge RN and assist as needed.
• Verify daily census lists and admissions/discharges as required.
