Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician for a full-time night shift, 72 hours per pay period (7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.) with alternating weekends and holidays. The role includes sitter duties and potential cross-site float as needed within the hospital.

Under RN supervision, you will perform basic patient care, monitor vitals, assist with ADLs, and communicate changes to nursing staff. A HS diploma, CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with clinicals, and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one clinical semester.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Demonstrates flexibility and prioritizes unit tasks under pressure.
• Serves as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers phones and call lights with courteous communication.
• Manges overall unit workflow with charge RN or assistant manager as needed.
• Performs pre-census and validates admission/discharge/census lists as needed.
