Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the CDH Surgical Care Center in Illinois. The full-time role runs 6am-6:30pm with every other weekend, performing basic patient care under RN supervision and supporting a high standard of patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include vital signs, glucose checks, daily living activities, and ensuring clean, organized rooms. A strong emphasis on teamwork and adaptability is essential in this fast-paced unit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA/CMA/EMT or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care activities delegated by an RN, including vital signs and glucose checks.
• Assists with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating) as needed.
• Reports abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly and supports unit workflow.
• Demonstrates organization and the ability to multitask under stress.
• Acts as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
