Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a patient care technician to provide direct patient care on medical units. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, recording measurements, and supporting an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires a CNA certificate or current nursing student status with CPR/BLS certification and a high school diploma. The technician will also perform phlebotomy and newborn care as needed, assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• CNA Certification or currently enrolled in nursing education.
• CPR recognition by the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers).
• High school diploma required; one year of college or nursing education or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care activities including admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Takes and records vital signs and measurements.
• Performs phlebotomy and newborn care procedures as needed.
• Maintains safe, clean environment and proper infection control.
• Transports patients and equipment; responds to emergencies and calls.
• Documents observations and notifies RN of changes in patient condition.
